Folk art

There are a lot of different kinds of folk art on the Kola Peninsula. Saami and Pomors keep their art traditions. Some trades are developed on the Kola Land; among them are wood painting, lace trade, scrappy sewing, and bone fretwork. These trades did not take place here historically.

The regional center of art trade, founded in 1992, unites amateur of folk art. There are also some centers of art trades and arts and crafts trade in the towns of Kirovsk, Kandalaksha, Severomorsk and National cultural center in the village of Lovozero.

Folk heritage of the region is very important. Tesrk coast of the White Sea and Lovozero district can be called as the main places of folk trade. There are some of folk groups from Varsuga and Teriberka villages, music groups "Luyavr'" and "Oyar" from Lovozero village.
