Blagoveshensk cathedral (Kola)

The activity of religious organisations became more various. It includes not only religious activity itself, but also active peaceful, cultural and enlightening, missionary, entrepreneur activity.

Within the frameworks of realisation of federal target program 'Formation of directions of tolerant consciousness and prevention of extremism in the Russian society (2001-2005)" by bodies of administration of the Murmansk regions and realisation of regional and municipal programs, directed on socialisation of children personality, such as "New civilisation", "Leader", action "I am a citizens of Russia', competition of social projects. Developed according to the regulation of the Government of the Murmansk region of national and regional component of state educational standards presupposes examination of questions of historical and cultural heritage of the Kola North.

On the 1st of January of 2003 on the territory of the region 250 religious associations function, half of which was registered in the Department of Justice, the rest of them acts within the law of RF "About freedom of conscience and religious unions" without registration. There are 20 confessions of different religions on the territory of the region.

The number of religious organisations is constantly increasing due to rise of number of congregations of Russian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchy (82.4 %of number of the faithful of all the denominations) and communes of Christians of evangelic faith. There are two orthodox temples in the Lovozero and Revda villages.

A lot of religious organisations are able to have a dialogue and practical interaction with each other and the state bodies.

At present on the territory of the Murmansk region 36 national public organisations and national cultural autonomies are registered. 14 of there associations presenting different diaspores are included in the Centre of national cultures. The Centre was founded in October of 2000.
